Free Trade Day 2019 on the Central Coast

Free Trade Day 2019 kicked off with a few light showers in the morning. So we thought, it ended up raining all day. At times turning into very heavy rain patches. But let’s face it, the rain is really needed on the Central Coast at the moment. Despite all the rain, it didn’t dampen the spirits of the My Timber Flooring team. As we participated in our third year of Free Trade Day on the Central Coast. Free Trade Day is about the ‘Business of Kindness’ where local tradies volunteer to give up there time to assist others in need of a genuine helping hand. Our project this year was a new floor for a wonderful Lady in Blue Haven. Due to life’s challenges, the family home ended up without any floor coverings. The family where living on an exposed concrete floor in most of the rooms in the home. With the help from Quick-Step Australia, C&R Flooring, My Timber was able to supply and install a new Laminate flooring system to the family home.

Our client is a proud, strong mother who has fought hard all her life to keep a roof over her family’s heads, she had given up on inviting anyone to her home any more due to the condition of your family home. So we set about taking her family home back to a warm, liveable, and inviting home once again. Allowing her to invite her friends and family over for a chat and a cup of tea.

So we set about installing a Quality underlay topped with the latest modern light-oak coloured laminate flooring System. In Fact this project was the first time both the Quick-Step Rep and I had seen this floor laid, as the donated floor has only just recently been released to the Central Coast market. The floor was finished off with brand new skirting boards, kindly donated by Kincumber Mitre 10.

The home now looks amazing again. After the new floor had been installed, you could feel the life coming back to the family home again. Truly Life changing for the proud homeowner. It was a delight to see such a happy smile return to the face of this grateful mother and daughter. It really made all the hard work of the day, ALL worth it. We left the job site at the end of the day after receiving a big warm hug. Top 5 Steps on How to Find your Dream Floor

A How-to-Guide to finding your dream floor for home owners on the Central Coast of New South Wales.

Step 1): Log onto the My Timber website and have a look at the flooring section of the site. You will find the options of Central Coast Flooring available for your home.

In the flooring section there are two options, either “Flooring Styles “ or “Flooring Products”.

Flooring Styles gives you some design ideas, especially related to the very popular interior design styles trending at the moment on the Central Coast.

Flooring Products gives you some direction as to what type of flooring materials may suit your design and lifestyle budget for your home. Floating Timber floors, Laminate, Hybrid, Bamboo, Cork floors just to name a few.

While on the Flooring section of the My Timber website download our “How you get the My Timber Advantage” eBook. This eBook will give you additional information on how to choose the ideal floor to suit your family’s lifestyle and your home.

Last but not least, go to our Social pages and see some of our completed works photos. These will give you a better understanding of what My Timber can achieve in family homes on the Central Coast.

Step 2) : Visit the My Timber Showroom in Erina. We will discuss with you the type of floor you need for your home. Both your Design brief and your Project budget brief. You can then choose from the many flooring options available – all on display in our Showroom. Over 700 flooring samples are on display.

We will note your chosen favorite flooring options on our in-house Information Sheet.

Step 3) : The Site visit. My Timber will attend your home on a day and at a time to suit you, complete with your chosen flooring samples. You will be able to see in your home what flooring option best suits your home.

While you are moving the floor samples around from room to room, we will complete an in-depth site inspection of your proposed new flooring zone: measure your rooms, note the type and number of trims required for the project, and take note of all the works required to complete your flooring project. This will include under-cutting of timber door jambs, removal and re installation of skirting boards, or if you choose, have new skirting boards supplied and installed, and if needed, remove and dispose of existing carpet or floor tiles as required. Plus, we will review the site locations for the delivery of your new flooring system and any other special requirements that either you or you home have, such as a very steep driveway.

Step 4) : The Quotation. My Timber will supply you with a detailed Quotation, outlining all works required for your project as assessed at the time of the check measure. This includes all materials to complete the stated works and full flooring installation requirements. The only thing we can not quote on is, and this is important, if you require sub-floor preparation works. This can only be properly determined by the flooring installer after the existing floor coverings have been removed or the work’s zone is free of building materials. This inspection will be completed with the use of leveling devices to determine if floor preparation works are required to meet the flooring manufacturers installation requirements

Step 5) : The Installation. My Timber will have your new floor deliver to your home. It will be hand unloaded and stored in your home, not just delivered to the curb side, like an online flooring purchase.

Your flooring installer will turn up on time and on the agreed day to install your new floor. The flooring installer(s) will be courteous and respectful to both you and your home during this time. After your floor has been installed we will clean up after ourselves and take our site rubbish away with us, leaving you with your new dream floor to enjoy. My Timber, the local Central Coast Flooring ,Blinds and Plantation Shutters retail shop behind the big bright orange sign on The Entrance Road in Erina, is celebrating 10 years of business from their Erina site.

First started 12 years ago in Avoca, the business quickly outgrew that site resulting in a move to Erina two years later, in 2009.

And it has been expanding ever since.

My Timber’s principal since 2014, Brendan Hunt, is a qualified Carpenter and Joiner with many years experience in the building industry, both as a tradesman and in management roles. As such it makes him a valuable and reliable ‘go to’ resource for others in the building and home renovation industries for all their flooring, blinds and shutter needs on the Central Coast.

“We know our stuff. And we willingly share our product knowledge and experience honestly with our customers so they can make an informed decision on what flooring best suits their needs for homes on the Central Coast,” Brendan Hunt said. “As an independent local business we don’t have to meet any head-office sales targets.
